  1. The Farm is well known now in Tennessee for the wonderful products they make and the books on midwifery but I remember when they first came. The surrounding old farm country communities were unsure what to expect. The area around The Farm has old Amish and Minnonite communities and others. But The Farm soon fit in and is now a part of the fabric of a diverse rural area. Like The Farm, the Elephant Sanctuary in nearby Hohenwald,TN was also met with wariness but it too is now a part of the fabric of rural Middle Tennessee.

  2. Miss Hobo Hippie. I lived not far from some Amish people and went to high school with a few in Pennsylvania. My guess on the pot smoking thingy is that a few of them do (secretly) now. On a wide-scale level, I don’t think they will, but who knows. The Amish are very friendly people, but they keep to themselves. I used to kayak at a rest area up there, and I always got a kick out of one of them who drove a black BMW. The rims were painted black. Wouldn’t want to show up The Big Guy, would we? Laughing out loud.
